more sprrrrouts!

Okay, i finally uploaded some photos :)
so, fist i soaked the wheat overnight (NOT 24+ hours - it can drown the poor grain!)

Then, i left it in our colander for about 2 days and just kept wetting it and lettin is sprout away.( you can see in the pic that the wheat germ is starting to sprout--they're the roots)

And that is about all for todays post!!

Project numero uno!

Objective: to Sprout wheat/spelt or whatever i end up using, to make wheatgrass juice, then, dry the trimmed wheat and make sprouted wheat tortillas!!

though my previous attempts at sprouting have gone sour (literally) i am prepared to face this challenge, even if it goes moldy. i will go step by step through this project, and let anyone out there know how and what happens to it. i have never made anything with sprouted wheat before, so if this turns out, i can add it to my cooking resume :)

Kenya

P.S - the kefir made me throw up. in the early morning after eating a delicious peach kefir smoothie. it is important,
i realized,
to sterilize everything!

patience

Good things usually take a long time. Kefir is a good thing. Kefir takes a long time. yikes. every 30 minutes i have to check the mason jar inocently sitting on the corner of the counter, but nothing has changed.

so, i will try to get it out of my mind for the next few days. Grow, you cultures!!

falling timpanogos

this last weekend we hiked up the glorious mount timpanogos. i got to see the amazing fall colours for the first time. beautiful.
the streets around here are becoming crunchy and golden. i love riding my bike through the great piles of fallen leaves.
for the best yoghurt, mix any plain yoghurt with a tsp of vanilla extract and some honey/maple syrup. yum.
